Stop and Stare

Last Friday, after I had spent most of the day with my Mom, I came home and let the dog out. The weather was so beautiful that I ran back inside and picked up my camera. My plan was to go outside and find anything and everything to photograph around my apartment. There was the most amazing sunset. The type make you just stop and stare in awe. I quickly jumped in the car to chase down a spot where I could really see it and photograph it’s beauty. I found a spot on brand new street that has no development…no building to block my view. I took photos and then laid on the top of my car watching the sun go down. Incredible time to ponder life and God’s Glory. Enjoy!

Lubbock Adventures!

I along with two of my wonderful friends went to Lubbock last weekend! You see, we are Red Raiders who all had way to much fun at Texas Tech University. I can’t speak for my friends, but I can tell you that I loved every single minute of it! We decided to make a day trip out of it. We left on an 8:45 flight and we were at Lubbock International Airport by 10am. By the way, LBB is the probably the smallest international airport I have EVER seen. I think it has all of 8 gates. My best guess is that some airlines fly to Mexico from Lubbock. Who knows! Anyways, back on the Red Raider topic. We spent the day tooling around the sleepy little town of Lubbock reminiscing about all of the good times we had at Tech. We walked around Campus and took a lot of fun pictures! We had so much fun in the library! Rumor has it that the stacks are haunted….We just had to check it out!  I had been talking about a Chimy’s margarita since I graduated and left Lubbock in my rearview mirror. So we ate lunch while sitting on the patio in the beautiful weather, drinking margaritas. It was a perfect day. I can’t choose my favorite pictures, so I am posting most of them in a slideshow. ENJOY!

Labor Day Weekend Adventures!

Adventures is right word for it! My Labor Day weekend was fantastic. On Saturday, we drove out to the lake early in the morning. We took it easy and relaxed in the beautiful weather.  That night we had what my family has coined a “Fred Moss” barbecue. Fred Moss is my late grandfather. He made the best barbecue chicken, sausage, potato salad, and baked beans! SO good. I ate so much I was in pain. I had been talking all day about a bonfire in the fire pit….So we gathered wood, sticks, and leaves. Sitting by a fire on a crisp summer night has to be one of the most relaxing activities EVER. Loved it! On Sunday, We put the boat in the water and soaked up some more sun! Millie went for a swim and didn’t like it very much but loved being a boat dog. She took quite well to sitting up front and letting the wind whip her around. After that, we watched the Red Raiders fight for their first win against SMU! Wreck ‘EM Tech! Below are a few pictures!

My mom was teaching everyone how to two-step!

After ALOT of peer pressure and persuasion…She convinced my dad to join in!

Tomorrow is Friday!

Lately, I have felt as if everyday is groundhog day. I wake up… take the dog out…feed her….get ready…work…home….let the dog out…feed her….RUN…..Shower…Bed. Then it starts all over again. I can’t tell you how excited I am that tomorrow is Friday. It isn’t just any Friday. It is the Friday before a three day weekend! YAHOOOOO. Labor Day weekend is bittersweet because it is the unofficial end of summer and it is a holiday. I am headed to the lake for relaxing, boating, eating, sunning, running, and watching football. I am so elated for each and everyone of those activities because it is breaking my groundhog day mold. Can’t wait! On a somewhat related note… I have had my dog for a little less than a year now. We have settled into a nice routine but are still working on training as she was a rescue. She has a habit of running off if you let her outside without a firm grip on the leash. I experienced this habit for the first time at the lake and I along with my Mom chased her all over until finally capturing her. This weekend I plan to take her swimming in the lake. She has never been swimming since I have had her and I am not sure that she ever had the chance to swim before I got her. SHOULD be interesting. If she can swim as fast as she runs….I am in deep $&*%. This is Millie!

My hope is that everyone has a great Labor Day weekend as well. If you happen to be a football fan….Happy football watching. I personally am so excited to see the new season of Texas Tech Football. GO RED RAIDERS!

Summer is ending….

I have been asking myself this question for about a week now….”Where did the summer go?” This of course led to the bigger question of “where in the H.E.Double Hockey Sticks did the first half of 2010 go?” This coming weekend is Labor Day weekend…affectionately known as the unofficial end of summer. Summer is nostalgic for me. I had a lot of GREAT times in the summer growing up. Most of my summers, at least until high school, were spent in Louisiana. I spent about 2 months every year living with my Aunt Becky at Toledo Bend Lake. She is my Mom’s sister and has a son named Derek, who is 5 months older than me and the closet thing I have to a sibling. We used to run around wild-eyed and use our imaginations to play games like safari, where every rock or tree we came to was a different adventure. BEST OF TIMES. So carefree and fun. Oh and Star…Derek’s horse always played an instrumental part in our antics. She was our trusty get-away horse when things went sour. Well…fast forward a number of years to today. This is the summer I turned 25. It wasn’t so bad after all. I kicked off the Summer of 2010 in style. I moved into my own place and then me and four of my best friends went to San Francisco!

Then, my Mom turned 50! I told you this was a big year….Or maybe I didn’t! But I am tellin ya now!

After my big trip to San Fran and helping my Mom celebrate 50…I took it easy and had a fun summer. Attended my fair share of Rangers games.

Great Friend, Brooke!

This is Sweet Avery. She is the daughter of a co-worker!

My favorite park of Friday night Rangers games has to be the fireworks!

About a month ago, I went to Austin to celebrate another sweet friend’s birthday. Picture by my friend Stephanie Ewing!

And of course, I couldn’t leave out the awesome work deck parties! This first picture is me and Chelsea – a great friend and co-worker! She’s awesome! The second picture is Harrison – another co-worker.

This has been fantastic summer to say the least! I am so sad to see it go but I am equally as happy to usher in Fall. Fall brings more travel….Nashville, Upstate New York, D.C., Boston, and New Orleans! Oh and it brings Halloween and Thanksgiving with it too. Like I said, 2010 has and continues to be an incredible year! God is good!
